Online Stores + Ivalo

Hanna Kovanen

When I shop, I mainly shop online because I am rarely surrounded by my favourite brands, especially during semesters. Traveling and trips to Helsinki tend to be the only exceptions.  Having said that, I prefer a real-life shopping experience in a store, because it makes choosing much easier as I get to try things on. On the other hand, it is easier to stay selective and true to your style when shopping online.   Therefore, I decided to make a list of a few online shopping destinations, which I would recommend:     Net-A- Porter Does NAP need an introduction? What a legend - it is my go-to online store which sells almost every single high-end brand that is currently available online, including Prada. The only issue is that I tend to add too many pieces to my wish list.    In case NAP does not have something I want to get my hands, the following options do not fall far behind - Matchesfashion.com and MyThresa.com.   The Line The Line carries a selected curation of fashion, beauty and decor items in a context of an apartment. I think it is the best curated store both in store and online of chic essentials every season. What I love about this concept is that it encourages to stick to your style and not to buy excessive amounts of unneeded items.  Their stores in New York and Los Angeles are close to perfection, but many brands and items are also available online from brands like Proenza Schouler, J.W. Anderson, Lemaire, Linda Farrow, Toteme, Protagonist, Loewe, Khaite and CVC Stones. In stores they also sell, for instance, Rodin and Manolo Blahnik.  Style in a very stylish context, no?   Maryam Nassir Zadeh Modern cult for stylish women - known for their own brand, especially shoes, Maryan Nassir Zadeh keeps it cool with brands such as Marni, Acne Studios, Zucca, J.W. Anderson and Caron Callahan.

Maryam Nassir Zadeh

Nathalie Schuterman Based in Stockholm, Nathalie Schuterman focuses on international high-end fashion both in store and online, and carries brands such as Altuzarra, Balenciaga, Céline, Kiini, Loewe, Mansur Gavriel, Proenza Schouler, Vetements and Tabitha Simmons.   Their selection of designer bags and accessories is particularly good - it is definitely a must for curated Scandinavian minimalism with the chic edge.  I would also recommend Holly Golightly - the Danish match - for more bohemian Scandinavian aesthetics. Look for pieces from Aquazurra, Marni, Jil Sander and from many Danish natives including Sophie Bille Brahe and Saks Potts.    Tuchuzy Tuchuzy is a legendary boutique in Bondi Beach in Sydney - no doubt a must-go while in town after a dip in the ocean, but luckily they also have an online store, usually worth any duty fees you might face.  The online store carries most of same brands as the boutique including Céline, Re/Done, Chloé and ATP Atelier together with the best labels from Australia - Dion Lee, Matteau Swim and Bassike. In my opinion they have a top-notch selection for effortlessly cool and sporty women. My Chameleon is another Aussie favourite of mine to which Maria introduced me when I was looking for something particular last summer. They carry surprisingly many rising contemporary designer brands like, for instance, Jacquemus, Illesteva, Toteme, NewbarK, Ellery and Eytys, literally from all over the world.    Vestiaire Collective Vestiaire Collective is a luxury online buying and selling destination, and one of the only places to buy pre-loved pieces from Chanel, Hermés and Céline as well as gems from previous seasons.    I have heard stories of poor customer experiences, but so far I haven't had any issues, on the contrary, it has been the easiest way to sell pricier high-end pieces.

Straight From Brands Many brands have their own online stores worth checking out, and sometimes it is the only place to buy anything from a brand online - like, for instance, from COS.  It is convenient to shop from an online store, which has a highly curated selection of items, and I rather minimize the cost of shipping, but I also believe in supporting your favourite brands, and they often offer the best customer service.  Examples of my go-to online stores owned by the brands are Toteme, Filippa K, RAAW in a jar, Byredo, Re/Done and ATP Atelier, just to name a few.   Ivalo Ivalo - a fashion and shopping mobile application - launches today with an initial focus on Finnish designers. Their selection is impressive with over 70 brands including Arela, CHAÎNE, Terhi Pölkki, Lotta Larissa, LUMI and Ivana Helsinki. It is the biggest marketplace for Finnish designers so far, which is why I am intrigued to see how it is going to perform in the future, especially when they expand to Europe.   Where do you shop online?
